UNFOLD shanghai 2026

Happy to announce I’ll be joining the UNFOLD Shanghai 2026 @shanghaiartbookfair organized by @bananafishbooks This year the event will take place inside a historical building, a primary school La Lagena Elementary School built in 1935, now part of the Xintiandi development. The festival will be grouped in different classrooms. Find me on 3/F, Grade 3 Classroom 3, no.40 seat.
I’ll also do a public sharing on 13 June at 20:00 on “Street Roots Plant observation in Hong Kong”, with ongoing works of these spontaneous trees and stories behind them.

Street Roots(2022-) is an ongoing investigative project in Hong Kong documenting spontaneous flora emerging from rigid urban infrastructures. Appropriating official tree management systems, it explores the tension between institutional control and botanical agency. Through zines, photobooks, and installations, the project constructs an alternative archive that challenges binary perceptions of nature and the city, uncovering socio-cultural implications inscribed within the human-altered landscape.

《街道根系》（Street Roots） 是一個以香港爲背景的持續性城市調研項目。項目聚焦於城市夾縫中湧現的“野生”植被，記錄它們在體制規訓與人為干預下的短暫生存狀態。通過挪用官方樹木管理系統，項目試圖打破城市與自然，脆弱性與堅固的矛盾認知，揭示城市空間權力；並透過田野調查、影像與文獻資料，以獨立出版物（Zines）、攝影書及場域裝置，構築出一座持續生長的的檔案庫。

2026年6月11日至6月14日，2026 UNFOLD 上海·艺术设计节将在上海新天地东台里——喇格纳小学旧址拉开帷幕。本届艺术设计节以“回到小学，回到童年”为主题，在拥有近百年历史的现代主义建筑空间中，呈现一场为期四天的书籍艺术与创意设计盛会。
